The thorny trail to Hanuman Lake

Wednesday, 15 October 2014:
It was a holiday in Gurgaon offices due to Haryana state assembly elections. And me and my friend Khera (Ankur), being residents of other states, had a free day.

So we decided to try and reach this "Hanuman Lake" reachable on foot from a point in the Gurgaon-Faridabad road.
I had heard of this lake from a local while coming back to Gurgaon from Faridabad once. We parked our bike near the Hanuman Mandir - Pali Road Police Chowki intersection and made our way towards the lake on foot. We were warned of the extra-thorny bushes on all approaches to the lake, and also of monkeys (a lot of them).

Though we managed to avoid the monkey-menace, we did end up scratched and sore from the thorns that every shrub/plant seemed to be full of. But it was all worth it; as the small lake was totally isolated and serene.
Agreed the view couldn't be counted as one of the memorable lakes, but the trek and some rock-climbing made the half-day trek adventurous and a good exercise too.
The most memorable part would have to be the getting down to the lake part, and then trying to find an alternative route back.

Oh who would have thought a Wednesday could be so much fun!

Sharing some shots:

The first look of the lake and we knew getting down wouldn't be easy. The few pictures on google were all from this angle, so we had figured that not many had tried to get down near the water:

And we reached the bottom:

The lake wasn't very clean - so didn't try to go into the water. Enjoyed the breeze for some time, and then headed back up.

Back to the top again;

P.S:
Question: What should not be done while going on an early-morning half-day trek?
Answer: Not eat anything, coz climbing and walking would make you very very hungry :p :p
